For example you might audit logon attempts tracking who succeeds in logging on and when and who fails at logging on. Or you might audit object access on a given folder or file tracking who uses it and the tasks they perform on it. You can track an overwhelming variety of events in Windows 2000 as you ll learn a little later in the chapter. Windows 2000 provides several categories of events you can audit.
