Pex11-type peroxisome proliferators are involved in the proliferation of peroxisomes defined here as an increase in size and or number of peroxisomes. Dynamin-related proteins have recently been suggested to be required for the scission of peroxisomal membranes. This review surveys the function of Pex11-type peroxisome proliferators and dynamin-related proteins in peroxisomal proliferation and division.
