TAILIEUCHUNG - Preparation, characterization and catalytic properties of polymer-supported catalysts

Polymers present a class of materials that play a role of importance growing in catalysis. Polymeric catalysts based on polypropylene-polyacrylic acid (PP-APA) were prepared by the two methods: co-polymerization in the presence of transition metal ions (Cu(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Mn(II) ) and soaking method. Their catalytic activity was determined by oxidation reactions of ions S2- and hydroquinone by molecular oxygen in normal condition. It’s observed that, these catalysts showed high catalytic activity, which depends on the content, nature of metal ions supported and the condition of catalytic reactions. The re-usability of this type of Me/PP-APA in oxidation of S2- and hydroquinone was also studied. | Journal of Chemistry Vol. 43 1 P. 123 -127 2005 PREPARATION CHARACTERIZATION AND CATALyTIC PROPERTIES OF POLyMER-SUPPORTED CATALySTS Received 20th-April-2004 NGQ THI THUAN1 CHAU VAN MINH2 DQAN NGQC Duc1 1Faculty of Chemistry Hanoi University of Science VNUH 2Institute of natural products Chemistry VAST SUMMARY Polymers present a class of materials that play a role of importance growing in catalysis. I - INTRODUCTION The field of polymer metal complexes as catalysts in organic synthesis and other domains has been remaining attractive ever since the first example of catalysis by a polymer metal complex that was reported by Lautsch et al 1 . The catalysis by polymeric catalysts has opened a new field which have been attracting attention of many catalyst scientists in recent years 2 -9 . The polymeric catalysts are formed by the complexation of transition metals with functional groups present in polymer 10-15 . According to the authors 1 - 9 this type of catalysts had high catalytic activity selectivity and stability in the oxidation reactions especially in the oxidation of sulfur ions cumene hydroquinone etc. in normal condition. At present the catalytic mechanism of these catalysts is believed to be the transfer of electrons analogical as in the metalloenzyme catalysts 1 3 9 . The .
