It s mainly about restructuring certain truly crippling ideas and assumptions that we nerds idealists that we are tend to harbour about the Way the World Works when it comes to us and money and worldly success . So you can live better in every way I hope. Just as I am finally learning to do Many of us nerds really do seem to tend to develop a deep conviction at some point in life that being us . conscientious intellectuals of whatever stripe somehow absolutely precludes our being comfortably off somehow dooms us to long and painful struggles at or near the bottom of the social and economic foodchain. For a long time I have wanted to communicate with others who have struggled like me at 58 all their adult lives with the conflict of making a living - and pleasing or at least avoiding the condemnation of those around them - versus following their own deeply-held values interests and yes obsessions and compulsions of an intellectual kind. Well today I reached the tipping point and here we are. In this first letter I want to be direct and straightforward sharing my own reflections and conclusions in the hope that you will see your own struggles from a whole new perspective and see a whole new way to reconcile the value conflicts that have stalled you .
