In other words by placing too many details on your presentation slides you run the risk of the audience not remembering the most important details. Worse yet in cases such as that shown in Figure 4-13 you risk having the audience give up without even trying to understand the slide. One way to prevent a slide from seeming overcrowded is to limit the number of items on the slide. Many graphic designers recommend a maximum of seven items. Figure 4-14 provides an example. This slide has seven main parts the headline the image the three callouts the sentence in the body and the logo. What makes this slide readable is the white space that allows the audience to separate these items. This white space also allows the audience to find an order in which to read the information in this case top to bottom. Contrast that order with the lack of order in Figure 4-13.
