Nghiên cứu này tập trung vào tình trạng của các trại sản xuất giống cá sân sau ở An Giang và Đồng Tháp. The artificial reproduction techniques of Channa micropeltes was also conducted in the hatcheries from 11 2006 to 9 2007. The objective of this study was to investigate the basic techniques for development of artificial reproduction procedure of the giant snakehead species. Results of the survey indicated that all the hatcheries breed Channa micropeltes naturally with low efficiency. The spawning season of this species starts from January to July. Fish spawn around 5-6 times per year and nest during the reproduction time. Brood fish fed by trash fish with a feeding rate of 3-5 body weight were mature and ready to spawn after 3-4 months. Egg of Giant Snakehead is rather big mm in diameter . The fecundity was low ranging from 2 000-2 500 eggs kg offemale. At water temperature of27-29oC fish completely ovulated when induced by HCG with a dose of500 UI and UI plus 1 PG per kg offish. Ovulation occurred within 24-27 hours at the dose UI. However eggs of fish injected with the same dose that did not have complete ovulation were not fertilized. Inducing fish by two injections of500 UI HCG eggs produced had higher fertilization rate and hatching rate 67 and respective . In practice application of HCG and PG to induce spawning of fish is feasible and efficient. This can help produce enough good quality fingerlings to meet the grow-outdemand in the Mekong Delta.
