The effect of chlormadinone acetate on postoperative PSA must be considered in the present study. We could not find any reports that describe the duration of the suppressive effect of chlormadinone acetate in patients with prostate cancer. But in patients with prostate hyperplasia given 50 mg/day of chlormadinone acetate for 16 weeks, PSA levels are reported to return to the baseline levels 16 weeks after discontinuation (Noguchi et al., 2000).
