His HR director pressed the case in this instance since she could so clearly see the value of the service for this very important employee. I started to work with a coach not by choice. Or rather I should be more specific and say Not by my choice. In fact coaching per se never even occurred to me I should explain. It is absolutely true that I have known about my need to get my work life organized. I have thought about using an organization consultant a few times. I even had one call me. But I never followed up on this. I didn t think it belonged on my top priority to-do list. 133 134 Executive Coaching When I look back on this now and try to remember why I resisted some simple steps two things come to mind. First of all it seemed gimmicky to me. Organization specialist consultant whatever just seemed like a waste of time. The irony is not lost .
