There are several investigations from the study area. Özdemir & Öztürk (1992) recorded 36 lichen taxa from Gemlik and Mudanya districts. Öztürk (1997) recorded 26 lichen species from Armutlu and Gemlik. In ‹znik, previous lichen records are scarce. Peltigera rufescens was recorded by Szatala (1927), and Candelariella vitellina, Toninia cinereovirens and T. tristis were recorded by Schindler (1998). Studies with lichen records from Bursa province were published by Steiner (1916), Szatala (1927, 1940, 1960), Pisut (1970), Verseghy (1982), Öztürk (1990, 1992, 1997), Öztürk et al.
