TAILIEUCHUNG - PTP1b inhibitory consistuents from Vietnamese medicinal plant selaginella tamariscina
Inhibitors of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) are promising agents for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. From the alcoholic extract of the aerial parts of Selaginella tamariscina, four compounds including selaginellin (1), amentoflavone (2), βsitosterol (3), and scoparone (4) have been isolated and structurally elucidated by using combined chromatographic and spectroscopic experiments. Among the isolates, selaginellin (1) and amentoflavone (2), exhibited potential PTP1B inhibitory activities with IC50 values of ± and ± µM, respectively. | Journal of Science and Technology 54 (2C) (2016) 516-522 PTP1B INHIBITORY CONSISTUENTS FROM VIETNAMESE MEDICINAL PLANT SELAGINELLA TAMARISCINA Nguyen Phi Hung1, *, Pham Thi Hong Minh1, Doan Lan Phuong1, Phuong Thien Thuong2, Nguyen Hai Nam3, Dang Vu Luong4, Nguyen Huu Tung5, Do Huu Nghi1, Pham Minh Quan1 1 Institute of Natural Products Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), 1H building, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giay, Hanoi 2 Vietnam National Institute of Medicinal Materials, 3B Quang Trung, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi 3 Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Hanoi University of Pharmacy, 15 Le Thanh Tong, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi 4 5 Center for Applied Spectroscopy, Institute of Chemistry, VAST, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giay, Hanoi School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University Hanoi, 144 Xuan Thuy, Cau Giay, Hanoi * Email: nguyenphihung1002@ Received: 15 June 2016; Accepted for publication: 29 October 2016 ABSTRACT Inhibitors of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) are promising agents for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. The most recent estimates in 2014 showed that 387 million people were living with diabetes and this number was set to rise beyond 592 million in less than 25 years [1]. Type 2 diabetes (T2D), or noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, is the most common type .
