Today I’m very pleased to be here to represent my Group seminar. Now, I want to introduce all of you in brief about my group. There are 5 members in my group as you can see on the screen. Today, i’m going to talk about the topic of “QoS control in 3G UMTS”. Before we begin, I have something to talk to you. This is my first time I speak English in front a lot of people like this, so if I have any mistakes, feel free to tell me, it would be very useful for me to improve myself. Now, let’s get started 1 CONTENTS Overview of QoS in general Requirements in UMTS QoS structure in UMTS Control mechanisms Conclusion I have divided my topic into 5 important parts. The 1st part is going be the introduction, the second part is the next is going to be another one .and the last one is 2 I. Overview of QoS Quality of service (QoS) is the mechanism insuring that a service can be delivered to the end user in an acceptable time-frame and the service properties are stable The next, I’m going to talk about the overview of QoS . 3 I. Overview of QoS QoS has three main characteristics as below: - Availability of the service - Quality of information - Consistent delivery I. Overview of QoS At a technical level, QoS is characterized by: - Service availability - Delay - Delay variation (jitter) - Throughput - Packet loss rate 5 II. Requirement in UMTS The requirements for UMTS QoS are devided into three categories: - End user requirement - General requirement - Technical requirement And now, another member of my group is going to talk about the requirement in UMTS. 6 II. Requirement in UMTS 1. End user requirement for QoS - Only the QoS perceived by end-user matter - The number of user defined parameters has to be as small as possible - Definition of QoS attributes from the application requirements has to be simple - QoS attributes must be able
