It is considered a broad-spectrum agent, meaning that it has activity against a wide variety of parasites. Purpose Mebendazole is used to treat infections with many types of worms, including: • roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides) • hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus) • pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) • whipworms (Trichuris trichiura) • tapeworms (Taenia solium) Mebendazole can also treat infections with more than one type of a worm at a time.
