TAILIEUCHUNG - Women’s Empowerment: Measuring the Global Gender Gap

Encouraging country ownership and strengthening health systems: Ultimately, governments – together with non- governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs) including affected communities, faith-based organizations (FBOs), the private sector and others in countries – must decide upon their countries’ health needs and strategies. They are responsible for making and sustaining progress, and they must be accountable to those served by their health systems. Accordingly, a core principle of GHI is to support country ownership, encouraging governments to engage with stakeholders at the national, provincial, district and community levels as they develop and implement their country health plans and strategies | Women s Empowerment Measuring the Global Gender Gap Augusto Lopez-Claros World Economic Forum Saadia Zahidi World Economic Forum World Economic Forum 91-93 route de la Capite CH-1223 Cologny Geneva Switzerland Telephone 41 0 22 869 1212 Fax 41 0 22 786 2744 E-mail contact@ 2005 World Economic Forum All rights reserved. These are followed by New Zealand 6 Canada 7 United Kingdom 8 Germany 9 and Australia 10 countries that have made considerable progress in recent decades in removing obstacles to the full participation of women in their respective societies.
