INTRODUCTION High power laser light sources operating in the ultraviolet (UV) spectral region have received a great deal of interest for numerous applications in science and technology such as semiconductor processing, micromachining, remote sensing with Lidar, engine combustion diagnostics, spectroscopy, medicinal and biological applications. . . [1-6]. Hence, there is a great deal of interest for the development of high-power, all-solid-state UV lasers of convenient operating procedures. The existing means to produce tunable UV laser emission is mainly based on frequency conversion using nonlinear crystals such as doubling, tripling and/or mixing of tunable laser emission generated from the primary tunable lasers. However, this way has several disadvantages such as its complexity, high cost, limited spectral bandwidth and tunability, inefficiency, inconvenience and unreliability for airborne measurement in flight or aboard spacecraft applications [1].
