During the second half of the 1970s, three of us had taken interest in ancient Near Eastern-in particular Mesopotamian-mathematics with approaches or from perspectives that differed from those usually applied: J oran Friberg, living and working in Gothenburg; Peter Damerow, in Berlin (at the time, West Berlin); and the author of these lines Oens H0yrup), in Copenhagen.
