For example assume that Christina W. opens the Product Catalog with FileMaker Pro and inserts a reference to an image located at Users cwright Desktop into the product record for Crawdads. Then Jim B. views the Crawdads product record. Naturally the file path that Christina entered is not going to be a valid path from Jim s machine. Furthermore if Christina ever moves off of her desktop FileMaker will not be able to find it even for her. This issue can be avoided if all of the users are storing images on a shared drive and linking to them from there but for our examples in this chapter we can ignore this option.
