The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992,1 provided the fundamental principles and the programme of action for achieving sustainable development. We strongly reaffirm our commitment to the Rio principles,2 the full implementation of Agenda 212 and the Programme for the Further Implementation of Agenda 213.
