Squilla (Oratosquilla nepa) was minced and divided into 3 lots. Each lot was treated with 3 different acids such as formic acid, hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid, the pH was brought down to 3.5, 2.5 and 2.5 of the respective lot. Liquefaction of tissue was more pronounced in the first few days. Chemical, biochemical, microbiological characteristics and liquefaction rate of acid treated squilla were studied upto 90 days. Protein efficiency ratio of squilla silage (Formic acid) based diet is 0.58 and skim milk powder is 2.34. | Utilization of squilla Oratasquilla nepa for silage production
