Aim of the present study is to investigate the influence of socio demographic factors on health status of tribal and non tribal mothers. A large and growing body of research evidence revealed that socio demographic factors significantly influenced the health status of an individual. Cross sectional survey was conducted during 2017 among Siddi and rural mothers of Uttar Kannada district, Karnataka. A total of 120 mothers in the age group of 18-50 years were interviewed out of which 60 were Siddi and 60 were rural mothers. Mothers were randomly selected and informed consent was taken to gather required information. Structured interview schedule was used to elicit personal information. Health status in terms of health problems was assessed by using PGI health questionnaire, lower the score better the health status. Socio economic status of the family was assessed with Agarwal scale. Data was analyzed with proper statistical methods. Differential design was used to know the difference in health status between rural and Siddi tribal mothers.
