Brown spot disease caused by Bipolaris oryzae results in the yield loss of paddy in the recent years. In the present study, isolates were collected from nine rice growing states of India. Based on colony morphology and growth pattern, the 17 isolates of B. oryzae were characterized and formed four groups. These were (Group I) black with fluffy growth, (Group II) grey with fluffy growth and white spots, (Group III) grey with fluffy growth and (Group IV) grey with suppressed growth. Further the morphological characterization was studied on different media and spectral values for all isolates. | Morphological characterization of Bipolaris oryzae causing brown spot disease of rice
