You could use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to create several different flavors or modes for a button and then use JavaScript a coding language used to control objects on a Web page to change from one image to another when you click a button or move your mouse over the region it occupies on the page. Or you could use Flash to accomplish the same result. A button can be in one of four states at any particular time. You can add keyframes to change the symbol s behavior in each state. The Up state also referred to as idle is the default condition when the mouse cursor is not over the button.
