The study of graphic design history, in terms of its influential position in western societies, is crucial to the relevance of contemporary graphic design – to provide a comprehension of why things are the way they are, and how they came to be that way. Cultural progressions, political events, societal developments, and technological advancements shape and drive our way of life. Throughout history, graphic design has played an influential role in giving a visual voice to these narratives. In short, “graphic design history is world history”2 .
