The mass with the dimensions of 5 X2.5 cm was removed totally by m axillectomy and examined by radiography magnetic resonance MR and biopsy. The tumor was histopa-thologically classified ameloblastom a of follicular type and in some fields showed acanthotic form. The invasiveness of the tum or was also observed to be high. This report is the first case of m axillary am eloblastom a in dogs in Turkey. Key words sog ameloblastoma clinical and microscopical findings therapy Ameloblastoma is a loca lly invasive highly destructive t umor of the jaw consist ing of proliferating odontogenic epithelium in a fibr ou s stroma fr equent ly occurring in the mandible. Odont ogenic tumors are uncommon in domest ic animals 7 12 . It is encountered frequently in dogs and cattle compared to the other species 3 7 9 10 11 . It is benign but aggr essive tumor wh ich is usually locat ed in mandible and rear incisive teeth 4 7 8 13 . In this report the clinical and mor phological features of ameloblastoma manifested to be the fir st case in Tur key diagnosed on the maxilla of a Ger man Shepher d were aimed to be characterized. The material in volved in the case was submit t ed to our laboratory in the Depar t ment of Veterinary Surgery F aculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Istanbul with the total excision of the tumoral mass measuring 5X2.5 cm in diamet er located on the left maxillar y r
