Nurses are assigned to respond to the CD calls and investigations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After hours, calls are relayed to public health through our dispatch 911 service. (An updated contact schedule for public health personnel is provided each Friday to the Sheriff’s office 911dispatch office.) As we learned during the H1N1 pandemic of 2009/10, a large outbreak or public health emergency would require far greater resources than this department has available. Federal dollars were provided for the H1N1 response.
