To evaluate the role of laparoscopy in diagnosis of post-operative small bowel obstruction. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from June, 2012 to June, 2019 on 99 patients with post-operative small intestinal obstruction, who laparoscopically diagnosed at Trung Vuong Emergency Hospital, Hochiminh City. Results: Using laparoscopy, the successful rate of diagnosis of small bowel obstruction was 92.9%, among which 83.8% had been diagnosed with the site of obstruction, and 80.8% with the cause of obstruction. The rate of laparoscopic surgery after diagnosing was 61.6%. Conclusion: Laparoscopic diagnosis of post-operative small bowel obstruction was safe and effective not only to correctly diagnose but also to render treatment. | The role of laparoscopy in diagnosing post-operative bowel obstruction
