Urinary tract infection is one of the most common bacterial infections especially in developing countries. It shows lot of regional variation in causative pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern. Hence requires regular regionwise surveillance. Urine samples received at microbiology laboratory from patients with symptomatology of urinary tract infection were included in the study. All the samples were processed according to standard protocol, identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing was done. Antibiotics tested were ampicillin, cotrimoxazole, amikacin, gentamicin, piperacillintazobactum, ciprofloxacin, imipenem, meropenem, nitrofurantoin, ceftriaxone, cefepime and cefaperazone-sulbactum. | Bacteriology and antibiotic susceptibility pattern of urinary tract infection in a tertiary care centre
