TAILIEUCHUNG - OECD Environment Working Papers No. 2: The Health Costs of Inaction with Respect to Air Pollution

Ammonia concentration should be measured using passive sampling techniques – either the ‘Alpha’ samplers used by the Ammonia Monitoring Scheme or commercially available diffusion tubes (. those supplied and analysed by Gradko Ltd.). Wet deposition should be collected using a standard precipitation collector (Sykes & Lane, 1996) and analysed for NO2 - , NH4 + , SO4 - and pH. It is recommended that collectors are deployed at one month intervals, rather than the current one week (ECN) or two week (precipitation composition monitoring network) intervals, using a biocide such as thymol.
