TAILIEUCHUNG - Structural and Electronic Conformation of Polymer Matrix in Polyaniline Films containing Nickel-Nanoclusters

Structural and electronic transitions in polyaniline (PANI) matrix due to the presence of nickel-nanoclusters (PANI-Ni) were investigated via UV-Vis spectroscopic measurements. The obtained results indicate that there exist two populous packets of polaron (located at 872 and 973 nm) in both PANI and PANI-Ni. Due to the presence of nickel-nanoclusters, a quinoid-to- aromatic conversion was intensively happened and evidenced by: i- the existence of a steadily increasing absorption tail; ii- degeneration of a ground state of polarons of PANI and split into three exciting states with three sublevels of energy. I - INTRODUCTION Polyaniline PANI in various size and structure is still one of the most attractive organic conducting polymers that have been widely studying. The changes in the structural and electronic conformation of PANI matrix is an important concern of practical applications of PANI. There is an interest that these changes are strongly dependent on the synthesis approach and its parameters nature of electrolyte nature of dopants etc. Therefore these give a number of various approaches to prepare a lot of kind of polyaniline composites in various morphology and structures 1 - 5 . Nanoparticles of transition metal oxides incorporated in conducting polymer matrix are known well as a source to promote internal and external molecular electron transfers. Because electrons may shuttle between polymer chains via strong hybrids of the unfilled-d orbitals of transition metal oxide and the lone pair of electrons of nitrogen .
