In July 2011, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) issued groundbreaking recommendations for which women’s preventive services should be covered. This special edition turns this focus towards the future. The suggestion of a future beyond the car may seem extreme or utopian in a discipline and a world preoccupied with the present.
