I wonder why John and Mark came back from York so soon as I was thinking of going there myself. A. I ve asked John and Mark why they didn t stay in York for longer because I want to go there myself. B. I wish John and Mark would tell me why they spent such a short time in York as it ll be useful for me when I go there myself. C. I was planning to visit York so I would be interested to know the reason why John and Mark returned from there in such a short time. D. As I have planned to go to York I would like John and Mark to tell me how long it takes to get there and back. 2. Although I know they are from Morocco I m not sure if they speak French. A. I know that they are Moroccans so they must be able to speak French. B. I m not certain whether or not they speak French but I m aware that they are Moroccans. C. Because they are Moroccans they probably know how to speak French. D. I believe they are Moroccans which means that they are probably able to speak French. 3. My son refuses to admit that he was not sufficiently prepared for his final exams but unfortunately this was the case. A. My son regrettably didn t study enough to get ready for his final exams but he won t accept this. B. However hard he had studied my son was still not sufficiently prepared for his final exams. C. My som believes that his final exams were very difficult and refuses to admit that he had studied poorly for them. D. Unfortunately my son wouldn t admit that his not doing well in his final exams was due to his poor preparations. 4. As usual she ll just have a quick look at her notes a few minutes before the exam and still get another good mark. A. She does hardly any work before the exams so it s amazing that she still manages to get such high scores. B. She ll still manage to get a high score again by merely glacing at her notes a short time before the exam. C. Usually she just glances at her notes before an exam but still her marks are quite high.
