We use Datastream data to derive results for 24 other countries over the last 30 years, covering essentially all major stock exchanges in the world. As the nation reaches a historic milestone in 2012 with the full implementation of annual catch limits ACLs and accompanying accountability measures for all domestic stocks it is fitting this report is equally historic in the progress it documents toward rebuilding our nation s fisheries. In 2011 a record six stocks were determined to be rebuilt with a decrease in the numbers of both overfished stocks and stocks experiencing overfishing. These results underscore the strength of our science-based management process and clearly demonstrate we are actively turning the corner on ending overfishing and rebuilding our nation s fisheries.
