To detect X-linked mutations affecting viability differences in sex ratio number of male offspring number of female offspring were measured in the progeny of these males taken at three different ages or after EMS exposure and mated to attached-X females. There were no significant differences in sex ratio for the three age periods but a strong significant difference in sex ratio after EMS exposure was obtained.
