The shorter the term of the transaction the less default risk is a primary concern. The majority of federal funds transactions are for overnight or over weekends. Term federal funds however are not uncommon. They transact at a fixed rate for a period longer than one day typically 30 60 or 90 days. Term federal funds are subject to loans-to-one-borrower and other lending limitations.
