The respective frequencies of alleles asi-CnB and asi-Cnc in the N Dama and and Baoulé and breeds were almost opposite to those found in the Shuwa Arab zebu and a true zebu which confirms a phenomenon already documented in the literature. Because the asi-CnB ớ-CnA t-CnB haplotype was strongly predominant in N Dama and Baoulé and as compared to the asi-CnC 3-CnA2 K-CnA haplotype in the Shuwa Arab zebu an opposite trend in frequencies was also observed between taurines and zebus at the 3-Cn and K-Cn loci. These results confirm that the polymorphism of caseins provides an efficient marker system to discriminate Bos taurus from Bos indicus origins.
