What Is Simplified English? Simplified English (SE) was developed so that documents written in English could be understood by people who speak little English. To make the documents easier to understand, Simplified English uses a limited vocabulary and a set of writing rules. The writer can only use words on the approved list and technical terms (words common to tile field). Each word on the list has only one approved definition.
