TAILIEUCHUNG - Urbanization and water pollution in China: Chieko Ito

This paper statistically examines the relationship between the quality of drinking water and urbanization, with a focus on cities in China. After controlling the effects of government efforts and socio-economic environments, the regression analysis shows that both population size and population growth have significantly negative impacts on water quality. This suggests that wastewater treatment systems in urban cities in China do not have the capacity to accommodate for both the population size and the population growth. . | Asia Pacific School of Economics and Government DISCUSSION PAPERS a ANU THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY POLICY AND GOVERNANCE U rbanization and water pollution in China Chieko Ito 05-13 Asia Pacific School of Economics and Government THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY http Chieko Ito 2005 The Policy and Governance Program at the Asia Pacific School of Economics and Government publishes a series of Discussion Papers on a range of policy issues including issues of political institutions and institutional design accountability and public sector management and the relationship between political and economic reform.
