THE first two books of Aristotle's Physics do not deal with problems in what we today call physics: Aristotle's own titles for them were probably ,Qoncirjujjg_prindpks' and 'Concerning nature' (Ross,pp. 1-6), andhe^ntesjsaphilosopher, not as a scientist. Nevertheless, Phys. II, at least, seems to be addressed to the sdentifi^jtudjntjof_nature_(the phusikos: 194*16, bio, i98a2a), and both books may, perhaps, most aptly be classified as philosophy of science.
