The lab illustrates some of the different ways to configure a router as a frame relay switch and emphasizes the differences between a partially meshed switch and a fully meshed switch. When you thoroughly understand the differences between each configuration you will be prepared to configure your own frame relay switch for any given practice scenario. Keep in mind that as a CCIE you don t just need to know how to accomplish a given task you need to know how to accomplish a given task using every possible method. The configuration that I generally use for practice is a fully meshed frame switch but selectively use PVCs in a partial mesh. I do this because this is a flexible configuration and this particular configuration forces me to manually lock down certain configurations. I prefer to lock down anything I can so that I know how it is supposed to behave. Equipment Needed 1. A router with four or more serial interfaces such as a 2521 or 2522 2. Three additional routers with two or more serial interfaces each such as 2501s 3. Appropriate cables to connect the routers.
