Value is a concept that many equipment vendors talk about, especially when the subject concerns T1 service delivery equipment. But unlike some companies that just talk about value in shallow market- ing terms or catch phrases, ADC Telecommunications demonstrates true value – manifest and validated in actual cost savings and performance efficiencies in carrier operations. To experience this value, however, carriers must take a fundamentally different approach to the way they deliver T1 access circuits. | The Soneplex System A New Definition for Network Value Overview Value is a concept that many equipment vendors talk about especially when the subject concerns T1 service delivery equipment. But unlike some companies that just talk about value in shallow marketing terms or catch phrases ADC Telecommunications demonstrates true value - manifest and validated in actual cost savings and performance efficiencies in carrier operations. To experience this value however carriers must take a fundamentally different approach to the way they deliver T1 access circuits. In designing each product and platform including its Soneplex system ADC s primary goal is adding demonstrable value to each customer s business case. By making installation management and migration of a network easier and more cost-efficient ADC s service delivery solutions allow carriers to focus on other critical competitive issues facing them. Today T1 is an essential business building block. The use of these services is projected to grow at 30 to 40 percent annually to meet demand for hicap ISDN-PRI frame relay Internet access PCS access and ATM services. More than 60 percent of businesses with 50 or more employees now have at least one T1 line. For local exchange carriers Tl-based services are an increasingly essential cash flow driver For incumbent local exchange carriers ILECs Tl-based services account for 10 to 20 percent of total revenue and up to 25 percent of total profit. For competitive local exchange carriers CLECs T1-based services account for 80 to 90 percent of total revenue and a corresponding percentage of total profit. Because of the abundance of copper wires already installed in local networks ten times more T1s are delivered over copper than over dedicated fibers. High bit-rate digital subscriber line HDSL technology has been the most widely used method of T1 delivery over copper. But the HDSL module cost is becoming a smaller portion of the total T1 delivery cost. The Soneplex system .
