Nolan has had a long career devoted to risk engineering fire protection engineering loss prevention engineering and systems safety engineering. He holds a Masters degree in Systems Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland. He is a . registered professional engineer in fire protection engineering in the state of California. He is currently associated with the Occidental Petroleum Corporation as corporate-wide Risk Engineering Advisor with previous roles as Facilities Engineering Advisor and Senior Fire Protection Engineer. He has also been associated with Lockheed Marathon Oil and Boeing in various risk and safety roles. He has received a number of safety awards and is a member of a number of professional organizations. .
