TAILIEUCHUNG - Correlation and path coefficient analysis in ginger (Zingiber officinale Rose.)

Sixteen genotypes of ginger collected from different parts of the country were evaluated in randomized block design with two replications during kharif 2014. The results on correlation and path analysis revealed high positive and significant association of fresh rhizome yield per hectare with characters viz., plant height, leaf area index, number of tillers per plant, number of leaves per plant, stem girth, number of primary rhizomes, length of primary rhizome, number of secondary rhizome, length of secondary rhizome, oleoresin content, curing percentage and essential oil content since, these characters also had high direct and indirect effect on fresh rhizome yield per hectare. Hence direct selection for these traits would be more useful in the improvement of yield per hectare. | Correlation and path coefficient analysis in ginger Zingiber officinale Rose.
