Ethical research is very important for all educational researchers who conduct research projects or use and apply the results from research findings. Research is a public trust that must be ethically conducted, trustworthy, and socially responsible if the results are to be valuable. All parts of a research project – from the project design to submission of the results for peer review – have to be upstanding in order to be considered ethical. This paper explores (1) four basic principles of research ethics: integrity; professional, scientific, and scholarly responsibility; respect for people’s rights, dignity and diversity; and social responsibility; (2) analyzes six basic standards of research ethics: authorship, avoiding plagiarism, peer review, data management, avoiding misconduct (fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism), and respect for persons (informed consent, privacy and confidentiality); and (3) recommends necessary requirements to establish an Institutional Review Board or Ethics Committee in all .
