Hepatitis B viral infection is a major health problem worldwide. New cases can be prevented by immunization with hepatitis B vaccine containing the genetically engineered surface antigen. Values of ≥ 10 IU/ml are considered protective. However a small percentage of individuals fail to develop these levels. Such non responders are at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B virus infection. This is of concern especially in health care personnel.
