In this exercise you collapse the Fins folder hide it and then start working on the body of the ship. In doing so you work with groups. A group is a collection of shapes combined into a single object. You can later ungroup a grouped object returning it to the original collection of discrete components. You also learn how Flash objects residing on a single layer interact with each other and how grouping and ungrouping objects offers control over that interaction. 1. With rocket_working.fla open collapse the Fins layer folder by clicking the Collapse Expand arrow to the left of the Folder icon. 2. Hide all the fins by clicking the Visibility column of the Fins layer folder. 3. Lock all the fins by clicking the Lock column of the Fins layers folder. 4. Expand the view of the Body Parts layer folder. Collapse the Fins layer folder by clicking here. Expand the view of the Body Parts layer folder by clicking the arrow to the left of the folder s name. d Rocket Sketch Û Lock all the fins by clicking here. Hide all the fins by clicking here. 5. Make sure the Rocket Sketch layer is visible and then click the Exhaust Vent layer to make it active. 6. Use the Rectangle tool in object-drawing mode to draw a shape that will make up the four sides of the vent. Note When you use layer folders you can lock and hide all the contents in the folder by locking and hiding the entire folder. As we mentioned earlier many of your projects will be quite complex requiring dozens of layers. Without layer folders it would become very difficult to structure and manage your drawings and animations. 7 Deselect everything then use the Selection tool to move the corners and bend the sides of the rectangle until they fit the sketch. 32 Project 1 Rocket Ship Artwork 8.
